Find out how we help students explore futures that match their potential

How it works
The programme is aimed at students in Year 10 (England) or S3 (Scotland), and consists of a series of four workshops, mapped to the Gatsby benchmarks and delivered by our trained team members. It’s designed to challenge students in a supportive setting, help them reflect on their personal goals, teach them about workplace behaviours and build employability skills including public speaking and interviewing. Download the prospectus to read more about the curriculum.
At the end, we facilitate a full-day employer insight, where volunteers from businesses spend the day interacting with students, and students have the chance to put their newly learned skills into action.

FAQs
FutureYOU sessions are designed to be delivered to a standard class of 20 – 30 students. The capacity is limited to ensure every young person gets a chance to have their voice heard and actively participate. If you’d like us to deliver FutureYOU to the whole year group, get in touch to discuss timings and costs.
We know that exam season is a critical – and busy – time of the year in schools! That’s why we will aim to book in our sessions in the autumn and spring terms, but we’re flexible and this will be part of the discussion.
Each of the four skills and behaviours sessions are 1.5 hours long, and will be delivered on site, during the school day. The employer insight is a full day, lasting around 5 hours. We aim to provide an experience in the office for every participating school, but there may also be the option to bring employer volunteers to your premises for the day.
We’ve developed a match-funding model to ensure FutureYOU is affordable for the schools who need it most. We understand that your budgets are tight, so we will source funding to cover half of the cost. Please fill in the form to discuss this further.
FutureYOU is closely mapped against all eight of the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring that your students are empowered to fulfil their potential. Below is more information:
- A Stable Careers Programme – The FutureYOU programme is an opportunity to build on existing career provision or embark on a new direction of career education, specifically for Year 10 students, within the school
- Learning from career and Labour Market Information – AT LTSB we use labour market research to inform our content across all of our programmes. With FutureYOU, students will discuss their options after school and what they need to do now to help achieve their dreams and visions of their future. We welcome discussing additional opportunities to work together, including attending your school’s careers fairs, assemblies and parents’ evenings.
- Address the needs of each young person – We believe every young person should be able to choose their own future and we want young people to know their options available to them after they finish school. Our trained Programme Managers who deliver the programme will be available for 1-2-1 chats with your students during and outside of sessions to help answer any questions. Our sessions also include discussions where students can ask questions and share their views and opinions, and during our employer insight there will be the chance for students to speak with professionals about their own journeys and ask for any advice on next steps in their own journeys.
- Linking curriculum learning to careers – If you want to talk to LTSB more about how we can support your school with careers guidance, please reach out to your designated contact or via info@ltsb.charity
- Encounters with Employers and Employees – LTSB specialises in employment for young people. We have over a decade of experience supporting young people aged 16-24 into employment as well as working with employers to take on young people into their business. FutureYOU gives students the opportunity to start thinking about their next steps after finishing school, the skills that are valued in the workplace, and an opportunity to gain employer insight in their final session. Here they will engage directly with employers, find out more about the business, and speak with volunteers about their journey and work.
- Experiences of Workplaces – Not only do your students get to engage with an employer as part of this programme, but in our ‘Being at work’ session they will start to discuss what its like to be in a professional environment and some of the challenges and ways of working they will have to navigate. This session is designed to get students thinking about what they want to do, how to conduct themselves in the workplace, the everyday stresses of being an adult and how to communicate to get the support they need to succeed.
- Encounters with further and higher education – FutureYOU consists of 4 sessions and an employer engagement session. At LTSB we are experts in supporting young people into the world of work and understand that there are many different routes a young person can take to get to where they want to be. Our aim is through this programme to give students the tools to make their own decisions with clarity on what is available to them and start to ask the right questions to get the right answers.
- Personal Guidance – One of our sessions is dedicated to interviews which will help students to know what employers look for in an interview, and which techniques to use to stand out. These interview techniques can be transferable into any role.
*Please speak to your designated contact about booking us in to attend any mock interviews
Right now, FutureYOU is specifically for Year 10/S3 students. This is because they’re on the cusp of making major decisions about their future, and we believe we can have the greatest influence at this stage.
Once students leave school, they can apply to our pre-employment bootcamps, which give them an intensive, hands-on preparation before setting them up with interviews with leading employers.
Great question! We’re always keen to speak to new partners who can host a FutureYOU session, so please reach out to our friendly Employment Team via careers@ltsb.charity.
