Our impact
Our work opens doors for young people and challenges the inequalities that limit their choices. Our impact reflects a simple belief: every young person deserves a fair route into a meaningful career.

would recommend LTSB to others like them
“I recommend LTSB to all young people without the support system to help them get into the meaningful roles they aspire to. There are loads of sessions to help you develop employability skills and the opportunities gained from this programme will go a long way. I am now able to pursue my professional career which I thought was once impossible due to my background.”

Our Journey

LTSB is Founded
Following a successful career in the financial services industry, David Pinchin founded LTSB, then Leadership Through Sport, to tackle a simple problem: talented young people were being locked out of professional careers because of their background. Early supporters included Baron O'Neill of Gatley and Baron Davies of Abersoch.

Our First Pilot Cohorts
We launched our first pilots in accountancy, delivered through Premier League football club foundations and FE colleges. Combining employability training, AAT qualifications, and sports leadership development, 73% of the cohort were placed into roles with major companies.

Meeting Employer Demand
By 2014, LTSB had worked with over 80 young people. Employers across financial services were confident to hire, demonstrating that businesses wanted diverse talent - they just needed help to access it.

Expanding Across the UK
As demand grew, we expanded to Birmingham and Manchester, cities full of talent but where young people faced similar barriers. In this time, our team grew rapidly, and in 2019 we launched a pilot cohort in partnership with NatWest, which saw 10 young people secure Data & Tech Degree Apprenticeships.

Navigating Challenging Times
When the Covid pandemic hit and UK employment rates plummeted, our partners put social mobility first. Our first three-year contract with NatWest Group launched, and 60 young people were placed into apprenticeships that year, with more in early 2021. Meanwhile, our funders supported us to pivot to online delivery, and through Project 62 we placed every young person from our core programmes.

Programme Expansion
Building on the success of our online delivery, we expanded both the reach and scope of our programmes. We added Law as a new sector, opening professional pathways for young people into legal careers, and strengthened our collaboration with NatWest Group, creating more apprenticeships and early career opportunities.

From School to Early Career
In 2025 we launched our FutureYOU pilot, expanding our work to reach young people in school to help them make informed choices about their futures. Across England and Scotland, we continue to empower young people to overcome barriers, develop skills, and access professional careers.
